Can also be cooked on high for about 5 hours. The messier they are to eat, the better they are.

Ingredients

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

2 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp onion powder

4 lbs baby back ribs, trimmed and cut into 4–5 pieces

2 cups barbecue sauce, divided

1/2 cup water

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, Cajun seasoning, salt, oregano, and onion powder. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and rub the spice mixture generously all over.

  2. Brush 1/2 cup of the barbecue sauce over the ribs and arrange in the slow cooker. Pour the water around the ribs. Cook on low until tender, about 8 hours.

  3. Preheat the broiler. Transfer the ribs to a foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Brush generously with the remaining barbecue sauce. Broil until the sauce is caramelized and beginning to char at the edges, 3–5 minutes. Serve immediately.
